Our Church History

New Horizon Church was established in August 2024 and is part of the Assemblies of God Alaska Ministry Network. Formerly known as Valdez Assembly of God, the church has deep roots in the Valdez community.

From Old Valdez to New Valdez

The church was once located in Original Old Valdez at 406 Sherman Street and was known as Valdez Gospel Chapel, a historic Assemblies of God church.

During the 1964 Good Friday earthquake, the church building was tragically lost along with much of the town. The congregation later relocated to what is now New Valdez.

Today, the church bell remains the last surviving artifact from the original church building.

Our Heart and Mission

After Pastor Daniel Lambaren and his family began leading the church, they committed themselves to building a family-centered, whole-Gospel church body.

We may be a small church, but we have a big heart for families and for living out the full truth of the Gospel.

Our prayer is that everyone who walks through our doors, known as The Gateway to Hope, feels welcomed, valued, and at home.
